about

George Gershwin's bustling 1924 masterpiece embodied the spirit of 1920s New York and the burgeoning Jazz Age, while perhaps marking both the pinnacle and the end of the ragtime era, all at once. It accomplished quite a lot for one piece of music, and is my favorite Gershwin piano composition to play.

I'm releasing my rendition of "Rhapsody in Blue", recorded in New York City in 2011, to honor and celebrate Rhapsody's 100th birthday! Gershwin performed his masterpiece in public for the first time at NY's Aeolian Concert Hall on Feb. 12th, 1924.
